About Us
The Chequers Inn is a public house in the village of Smarden in Kent. It has been listed Grade II on the National Heritage List for England since February 1967.
It was built in the 14th-century and is timber framed. It was subsequently re-fronted in red brick and features extensive weatherboarding.

The Wilding family have owned the Chequers Inn since November 2024. The pub has been refurbished throughout the bar, restaurant and the bedrooms.

Our new kitchen will be fitted in February 2025 and we are also working on the beautiful garden ready for the summer season.

We re-opened the pub and restaurant on 27th November 2024 and have enjoyed welcoming customers in for breakfast, lunch and dinner ever since.
